Battle for the Books

So, in my last post I talked about The Battle for the Books tournament last weekend.  Today I want to go over my thoughts and review what I remember from the games I played. Warning this is a long post.

Hi all! Had a few Games this weekend, so here's a brief write up and some lessons learned!

 

Impressions from the table: Daughters of Khaine

Last week I probably had my last game of the year.  I played a game of Age of Sigmar with a buddy at our local game store.  I brought my daughters along.  I don't have a blow by blow but I do have some thoughts that I thought I would share.

40k Battle Report - Renegades as IG Test

Hi all,

Had a Hurricane-canceled then reinstated mini-game day - so went big with a 1750 point list for the renegades and heretics. But I've been itching to try to them as a guard list (and get access to strategems, relics, etc.) so I decided to pull out a Brigade-Level guard list. Everything in the picture got used (finally!) Plus big Bertha - the Malcador Annihilator - got a turn. Add in a small strike force of Storm Troopers, a scout salamander, and a banewolf for a flanking maneuver, and you've got a list!

I got to play 40k!

 After what felt like forever I finally got a game in.  I got to play against Dan from The Lonely Havocs and his DeathGuard army.  He was nice and didn't bring Morty.

Battle Diary and the Promethean Station in Action!

Just wanted to share some fun shots of the Promethean Station in action during a battle between my Wisdom Hunters Renegades and Thousand Sons versus a League Mate's Tau.  I've also upgraded it to add shots from a second battle with another League Mate's Imperial Guard. Enjoy (cause battles = hobby progress) and you'll see action shots of the new rhino and counts-as-predator (Goliath Rockcrusher).

Shorehammer 2017

Another exciting convention has come and gone.  I was lucky to be able to fly back and attend Shorehammer 2017.  I have a few pictures and I will summarize my games as best as I can remember.

Last week I got another game of 8th in at my local game store.  While I love my bugs, my orks were itching for a fight (when aren't they?) So I put together a list, including the new grot mega tank(GMT) and got ready to throw down.

A 40k Welcome to the Mid-West

This Week, I had my first 40k game in the "new" town.  I played at my the old haunt of Fantasy Books and Games.  It was their typical 40k league night and they are running the "Fate of Konor" campaign.  I decided to bring my space bugs and man were they hungry.

A New Era has Begun!

This weekend I had the chance to get in 3 small games of 8^th edition.  We each played 1000 points army from a different faction.  Even though one game does not give a complete picture of how well or bad and army or unit is, it is a glimpse of what it can do or downfalls it may have.

A while back I went to a special Game Day where we hosted (more like Christopher hosted) a group from another gaming club.  It was a great day where I played three games and faced off armies and general I have not seen before.  Here are some shots from my second game.

Genestealer Cult first impressions.

This weekend I had my first two battles with the Genestealer cult.  In today’s post I will give you my reactions and thoughts.

nova games

At the Nova Open I played three games in the Night Fighters Event.  This event spanned three nights and incorporated with the Narrative Warlords and Recon events.  The first two games I played alone against a single opponent.  The third game I was paired up with another team member and we took on a team from the other faction.

Game Day!

This weekend we had our monthly Meet Up game day.  I only got to play one game due to some scheduling issues on my part.  A big shout out to Kabbala for hosting and remembering to take pictures.  One of these days I will remember :)

apocalypse Battle recap

That happy feeling when you take out a Knight in a round of shooting

Last weekend, we had an 8 player apocalypse battle with 16,000 points per side.  It was the Imperium versus Chaos.  There were Salamanders, Guard, Dark Angels and Mantis Warriors on one side with Khorne Daemonkin, Chaos Marines, Traitor Guard, and just straight up Daemons on the other. beware lots of pictures.

War ramblings: Mawloc and Mucolid Spores

This weekend my Meetup group had a Gameday.  It turned out to be a small gathering but I had a great time anyway.  I had been fighting a cold and was sure I would make it but I was feeling better and they said get over here.  So I packed up my bugs, forgetting my tyrannocyte and mawloc, and join in the fun.

Game Day XXX

This weekend was Game Day XXX and I had a blast.  I took my tyranids and my Skitarii in hopes to get to try out the Skitarii and more importantly try out the Knight Acheron.

Meetup Weekend!

 Last weekend, my local Meetup group had its monthly meetup.  I was excited since I wasn't sure I was going to get to play.  Things changed around and my day was free so I packed up the bugs and we headed to the meetup.

This weekend my meetup group got together for another fun day of 40k! I was super excited because I missed the last 2 meetups and was itching to play some 40k.

GAME DAY!!!!

Last week I went to my local Meetup's Gameday.  It was going to be just an open day without any narrative or theme.  We were to bring a 1500 point and 1000 point army so we could play either solo (1500) or in a team (1000) Being the overachiever that I am I made three of each.
