April and May update

Hello All, it has been an a couple of months since and update.  So, this post is a 2 for 1 update covering both April and May.  It has been a pretty light month with real life kicking my butt so much I haven’t felt like painting in the evening.  So without further ado here is what I have done the last couple of months.

March Update

 Hello all, Another month has gone by and I have had a little time to do some hobbying.  I took a break from all the robots and painted up some tyranids that have been chilling out on my table.  After that, it was right back onto the robots with the mother of all robots the Lucius Patterned Warlord Titan.  So, without any more stalling let’s get into it.

February update

So, this month I have been back and forth on either wanting to paint and just not feeling it.  I was able to finish a few models. My month was a bit robot heavy with Mechanicum and Necrons models.  So, let’s beep boop and take a look.

January Update

The first wrap up post of the year for January is finally here.  This month was a catchup of mostly epic scale models but a few others as well

New Year Resolution

 Welcome to the new year! As always, I want to take a look at what is on my plate and what I have seen previewed and predict what I will be working on this coming year.

End of the year recap

 

Hello all, I know my hobby reporting and output has slowed these last couple of months and I think that is a common thing.  That being said, it is time to look back at what I have done this year and see what I pledged and how true I stayed to that pledge. I have completed 46 projects which range from single infantry models to groups of infantry to vehicles to titans. These projects are all over the place with some being from Age of Sigmar to 30k to 40k to Necromunda and a bit of Titanticus thrown in. As always, I give infantry models 1 point, calvary 3 points small vehicles and monsters 5 points, large vehicles and monsters 10 point and titans 15 point.

 

September Update

Another month is in the books.  It was a a pretty light month of hobbying for me this month with only four items completed.  Granted one of those was a reaver titan but still not much to report.

Aug Update

 

Another month has past and I did get a little work done.  Maybe not the most productive month but It is not bad.  I got a few new Mechanicum done as well as a present from my friend.  Without further ado lets jump..

July Update

I had a decent month this time.  As usual it was heavily Mechanicum focused but that is not surprising with that being the game I am currently playing.  Let’s take a look.

June Update

Time keeps on marching and another month has come and gone.  This month I worked on a few different armies and continued the theme of YEAR OF THE TITANS.  Lets take a look:

May Update

 Welcome to June! That can only mean it is time to look back and see what I have finished this month.  It has been a decent month I got to play some games.  So, without further ado, let’s dig in.

April pdate

 Another month has past and while I get to play in a game of 30k, it has been a slow month.  I did finish painting a few models as well as assemble others.  I am looking forward to traveling this month back to DC where I anticipate two days for fun, good friends, and WAR!!!! There is always war.

March Update

This month has been a bit slow on completing projects.  While I assembled a few set I didn’t finish many. I focused my attention on the Gloomspite Gitz boxset I purchased.  I assembled and primed most of the box.  I then started to paint my test models and now working on the units themselves.  Let’s take a look.

February Update

 So,  Another month has gone by and to keep up with my resolution to post once a month, I am here with an update on projects I have finished for February. This month was dominated by my Mechanicum army for 30k.  I am going to push myself to get out and play a game in March with this army.  Hopefully I will be able to find the time and opponent and actually roll some dice.

 

January Update

It is a new year, and I am going start it off right with my monthly update. I am going to try to do better this year and post these updates every month. I wasn’t bad last year but there is room for improvement. Most of this month has been my mechanicum army so lets jump in and see what is done.

New Year Resolutions

 

Welcome to 2025! A new year means a new pledge to make to try to slay the grey faster than I can replenish it.  I am going to try to hold back from buying anything new as much as possible and hope to make a serious dent in what I already own.  With that being said I do know there are a few purchases on the horizon for me this year… we will see.

Year in Review 2024

Well, with the year coming to a close, I usually try to review what I have done in the last year and compare it to what I plan to do at the beginning of the year. It has been a odd year with several lulls and little game-playing.  I hope in the next year I can break out of this funk and actually get out and play.  So, without further ado, let's dig in.

September Update

So, I have a quick update on what I have done over the month of September.  There was not a lot of painting done but a lot of building and printing of some Horus Heresy Mechanium before I switch gears and focus on my armies for Shorehammer coming this winter.

Missing update

 So I am not sure what happened the last couple of months but I have only finished one squad of the new Thallax cohorts to show for my work. I have built a few models but have yet to paint anything fully except these little guys.

Since I don't have a lot to talk about I thought I would lay out my paint scheme for the 30k Horus Heresy Mechanicum army.

I based these guys on my 40k Ad Mech army with a little twist.  I wanted to use a metallic paint for this army some I had to find one I liked.  The first one I tried was the same one I was using for my Orruks but I could it too bright and it is no longer available so I decided not to use it.

I ended up using  Folkart Multi-surface Tanzanite Metallic paint. It has a nice metallic feel and I got a bottle that will last me a decade.

For the Copper, I used one of my favorite colors. Pro Acryl Copper.  It is a nice and smooth paint. Easily a one-coat metallic that does not hide detail.

For the trim, I used the old formula of Army Painter Uniform Grey.  I am sure they have a new version of this color but this bottle should last me a while.

For the hoses I wanted a color that would pop so I used the Teseract Glow over a white basecoat.

For the face shield I used the Pro Acryl Silver color but I will be changing that to Army Painter rough Iron.  It looks better in my opinion but I have not had a chance to go back and fix these guys.

For the red tip on the weapon, I used Army Painter Gemstone red.

Lastly, I used Agrellen Earth for the base.

That is my paint scheme for the mechanicum army.  These guys fuzzed a bit on priming.  I am disappointed but I move on.  Better to have a fuzzy paint job over no paint job.
