February update

So, this month I have been back and forth on either wanting to paint and just not feeling it.  I was able to finish a few models. My month was a bit robot heavy with Mechanicum and Necrons models.  So, let’s beep boop and take a look.

Vultarax Stratos-automata

My first model was the Vultarax for the Mechanicum.  Back when they were releasing models from Forgeworld for the army I was instantly turned off by this model.  I looked to much like the blight drone from Nurgle and I hate all this Nurgle.  (I hate zombies).  I took a look at this guy with the clean lines, and it has won me over.  I am not going to replace my Krois or Explorator with this guy, but I will accept him into my fold.  Who knows, maybe he needs a friend.

heavy destroyer

So last month the new Necrons came out so that got me into the mood to paint some of these guys up.  I had a heavy destroyer to build and paint so this guy was finished.  I have some of the old school destroyers including some heavy destroyers, but I don’t have any of the destroyers with the new multi-shot gun.  It was an easy decision to add this to the army. I had to pin him to the base since the flimsy connection snapped while painting.

Nightbringer

The new Nightbringer model is just awesome.  I was using a creature caster proxy for him since the old one was a small metal dude and was hard to find.  I love this new model and was thrilled to paint him up.  I did leave off a swarm of scarbs since it broke off, and it was more trouble than it was worth reattaching them. I hate these little flimsy parts that have the smallest glued connection than never seems to attach right.  If they are going to have these details, they need to have the attachment better.  Overall, it is a cool model.  I tried to blend the electric green into a darker green for his cloak.  I think I did a decent job.  It is in no way a professional job, but I am proud of it.

Thanatar

I wanted to clear off more of my backlog from my Mechanicum army.  This guy has been sitting on my sheld since he came out last year.  I built and primed him right away, but other projects pulled me away.  Since I had my printed version, I just didn’t have the urgency to finish painting him.  Now that I have him I am glad he is done and I can field two if I want.  If only if it was strength 12.  The Mechanicum really needs some way to deal with AV 14.

Thallax

The last thing I have were a couple of Thallax that I had sitting around waiting to be painted.  I did these in batch along with the Thanatar so it was a easy task. One was a melta and one was a Photon thruster.  I acidentily dropped this guy.  I am such a clutz this month and lost the tip of his gun.  I will have to check to see if I have a 3d version that I could print and attach to make it look complete or figure out where that tip flew off when it broke.

That is it for this month.  Not a bad list of models finished.  I know I will be working on some more Mechanicum and tyranids for next month as well as replacing the armor on my finished reaver.  I also would like to work on my warhonud as well.  It could be a busy month. I hope you find some time like I did to slay the grey.
