Hello all, I know my hobby reporting and output has slowed these last couple of months and I think that is a common thing. That being said, it is time to look back at what I have done this year and see what I pledged and how true I stayed to that pledge. I have completed 46 projects which range from single infantry models to groups of infantry to vehicles to titans. These projects are all over the place with some being from Age of Sigmar to 30k to 40k to Necromunda and a bit of Titanticus thrown in. As always, I give infantry models 1 point, calvary 3 points small vehicles and monsters 5 points, large vehicles and monsters 10 point and titans 15 point.
Iron Jaws
While I wanted to paint more of these boys, I only managed to paint a Rogue Idol of Gork for my Age of Sigmar orks. My friend gave me this model, so I thought it was only fitting I paint him up. A quick 10 points.
Gloomspite Gitz
I predicted that I would be getting wolf riders from Games Workshop (GW). My local shop doesn’t have a big group playing Age of Sigmar here so, I was unmotivated to paint up these guys. I am happy that I finished the leader and a pack of wolves. Hopefully I will find the motivation to finish the army. I got 20 points for my effort.
Space Dwarves (Votann and Ironhead Squats)
I am grouping these together since I consider them the same army (heck I might use some of the models as Steeljacks). I knew they were going to bring out the trike and more gang members that I painte up. GW did surprise me with more Votann which I did finish Buri, the new named character, and a set of the Steeljacks. I have a few more to paint up for next year if I want to go that way. This gave me 21 points
Orks
While I didn’t paint up the things I pledged, I did paint some orks to take to Shorehammer. I decided that the preadator orks from puppets war look cooler than the official beast snaggas so I leaned into them and finished a squad of 10. I also finished a GW beastboss and then went back to puppetswar for a warboss in mega armor. For next year, I am working on a model to replace the official GW kill rig to fit more in the theme of my current beast snaggas. Finishing these models netted a total of 12 points.
Tyranids
I have so many tyrranids that I don’t have a lot to add to the army each year. This year I finally painted up my Harridan. I also painted a Hydrocast Malceptor and tyrant. Finally, I added a few termagaunt variants to the mix. Next year there are a few more Hydrocast minis I want to add and some more termagaunts but not much else until GW releases more units. Overal,l did all that I pledged except deathleaper. I earned a total of 44 points this year.
Mechanicum
Most of my time this year was working on the Mechanicum army for 30k. I swore when GW released plastic kits for this army I would start playing, it also helps the group at my local shop are a bunch of cool guys. I painted the Thallax, Ursarax, Secutors, and a magos as the infantry. The monsters were a buch of Castellax, a couple of domitar, an arlatax and the archmagos on abayent. I finished three vehicles, a triaros, a Krios and the exploratory. And finally I painted the two Thanatars. I hit most of my pledge and then some but there is still more to paint. All of these models equal 128 points.
Knights and Titans
With the addition of my Mechanicum my group convinced me that I could also add a few titans to my collection. I thought I only had a Warhound but after breaking out my Halot and Bambu A1 mini, I churned out a knight Porphyrion, 2 Warhounds, and a Reaver. Add in a Moirax and a Chaos Armiger and you have a full 80 points added to my total for the year.
Titanticus Scale
After playing a game with all my big boys, I thought making some more manageable titans to try out the new 3rd edition rules would be cool. I finished painting a Reaver and a Warhound. I have several more models primed and will probably have them done the first part of next year. I didn’t even know I wanted to do this, so these are free points. Since they are dread size, I counted them as 5 points each for a total of 10 points.
Missed Opportunities
So, I completely missed working on my 40K Ad mech, Sisters, Necrons, World Eaters, and Genestealers. There are a few models coming down the pipe that might get me back into these armies but not this year. I am still on the fence about my Overlords army. I should just bite the bullet and sell them. Maybe if I gather them and queue them up early I can make sure they get to the bazaar. I almost took Sisters to Shorehammer and I would have painted up that Russ model as a repressor. Maybe next year.
In the end, I have a grand total of 325 points. Not bad for a slow year. We will see what next year brings. I am guessing more epic, more titans, and more Mechanicum with some necrons, nids, orks, and goblins mixed in. Have a happy holiday and I will see you next year.
