So, I have a quick update on what I have done over the month of September. There was not a lot of painting done but a lot of building and printing of some Horus Heresy Mechanium before I switch gears and focus on my armies for Shorehammer coming this winter.
Thallax Cohort
One thing I completed as we already saw was a small Thallax Cohort. I am using a new metallic purple for these guys and I like how it has turned out. I am not sure if I want to stick with this color and repaint my ad mech using this color or just stick with my flat purple. I have started painting 6 more of these models and printed out another 3 that are waiting to be primed. I am going with a print one/ buy one mentality with these models.
Domitar battle-automaton
This model is a print only since GW has been out of stock on this guy for several months. I have found an artist that has done a lot of close proxies for most of these automatons. They are a bit bigger than the real ones so I have been resizing these models and reprinting them leaving me with some oversized models. I love this model but I wish we had the iron warrior version instead since I like it more. This model is waiting for priming.
Thanatar Cavas Siege-automata
I quickly picked up this model because it is just cool. There is actually two version of the Thanatar Siege-automata. The official plastic model from GW is the Cavas variant with a huge shoulder mounted artillery weapon. I love the look of this mecha and was happy to pick one up. It is also waiting for priming.
Thanatar-Calix siege-automaton
The artist that had the Domitar also had the Calix version of the Thanatar. Again, I printed one without knowing it needed to be resized. After printing one I used some calipers to get an actual resizing so I can print a version of the Thanatar. I had some difficulty with the shoulder mounted las-cannon so I might try to remove it and reprint it or I just might let it go. It is also waiting for priming.
Ursarax Cohort
I finally got my had on some Forgeworld resin with a Ursarax Cohort. These guys are the melee equivalent version of the Thallax. I built these with some claws and some with power fists. I also happened on a version of this model from the artist that created the other models. I just resized these models without printing at full size. Some of these are waiting for priming and others are waiting for paint.
Archmagos Prime
When the Thanatar was released they also released an Archmagos Prime to lead the army. This model has some fiddly bits. I was able to get this guy put together and he also waiting for priming. I might look around for something that will work for an Abeyant model. The model that GW is using for an Archmagos on an Abeyant is of course out of stock and I dislike it.
Castellax Battle-automata Maniple
Lastly, I have the Castellax. I have the 2 from the army box a third printed one and lastly a box of unbuilt one. These guys are like a smaller Thanatar and is what the Ad Mech Castellan robots are based on. I might print out another one or two to try to get a representation of all weapon types these robots can have. I finished painting one, I am currently painting 2 of them, and will build and paint the others once I am ready for Shorehammer.
And there you have what I have been working on last month. Not a lot of painting but quite a lot of building. I am not sure what I should do with my upscaled models. I have a growing collection of these models that I don’t know what I should do with these. If anyone has any ideas let me know. I hope you all are getting some hobby time in. I know I am trying to find some time to slay the gray.
