New Year, New League, New Format.

So the guys over at Fantasy Books and Games have decided to up the ante on their point cap to 2k on tournies and now during the league as well.  Does this really change anything for me?  Not really.  I find that my army builds does not really go past the single FOC chart.  What it does is give me a chance to try out some other options I have not used before.  So without further ado here is my first list of the new year.

There is not much in this list that you guys have not seen before. The one new edition is the Parasite.  He is a fluffy character and probably not that useful but I will put him in the group of gargoyles and give me some forward synapse to help the raveners get across the board. His abilites are kinda cool but not very useful.  I have to get him into combat for one of his ripper swarm rules to take place and the enemy has to outflank an infantry squad for the other one to take effect.  So very limited but anytime you can get free bugs I am happy.

This will be my first trial.  I might stick with this for a few weeks to give him a test but there are other things I want to try.  I also want to try a Carnifex in a sporepod with bioplasma, the 2+ flamer template and regen.  I figure having that guy pop into your ranks might be a scary distraction leaving my other threats to do some killing.

I also woul like to try dual trigons and dual tervigons.  just to see how well teams of big badies do.  On the hoby side I did finally got my red terror in and started to assemble him.  I am still on the fence if I keep him a snake or add in the legs or add in a new ravener body to make him a bit bigger.  I will post some pics to get your opinions later this week.

New Year, New Leaf, Same Nom nom nom

It is a new year and I have seen a lot of new years resolutions go flying by. Well I don't want to be left out in the cold so I have decided to make a couple this year as well.

2013 is the year of the Nom nom nom.  I am tired of being the Ork guy and want to switch to the bug guy.  This means that I am going to focus on playing with my bugs this year.  I will put away the rest of my armies and focus on painting and building and learning the in and outs of bug play.  The only time I will stop is if some one needs to test out a list against one of my other army or when playing in a big game and bugs are not on the list of armies to choose from.

I also think this year I will try to thin out my armies.  I probably won't sell any until the bazaar that Fantasy Books and Games has later in the year but I think it is time to get rid of my knights, dark eldar, regular eldar, and all flavors of marines that I own. If I can get 50% or retail for them I will be happy.

This will leave me with Necrons, Guard, Orks, Nids and Tau  It is a good reduction of forces and will clear up some room in my hobby area.

Getting my ass kicked by Matt Daemon...

So Friday I played the Chosen1 from Team Snake Eyes and his "friendly" army.  It was a bloddy battle and my robot dudes did not want to get back up.  here is his list

The prepping for Adepticon will continue this week and to help out my buddy test his list, I am bringing a not so cheesy Necron list.  This means no scarab farm, no fliers, no mindshackle scarabs.  Just some troops, and some rez orbs.  Lets take a look.

Last week at the Rogue Trader tourney (which I didn't get to play in ... the life of a ringer) it was announced that the army size will be 2k starting next month.  After taking to our league organizer about it he also thinks that he will be raise the point limit as well. So I thought I would take some time and modify my old 2k nid list and present it to you.  Let's take a look.

This Saturday is another Rogue Trader at Fantasy Books and Games and since my nids are not painted I will have to play one of my other armies.  Since I brought orks last time, and guard the time before, I decided to bring my Necrons.   Here is the list

Usually I have some wraiths and ghost arcs but they are not painted so no luck there.  I really don’t like the heavy destroyer since it is an easy killpoint I will put it in reserve hoping that I can kill something befeore it comes in and gives away first blood. The way I play it is that the overlords go with the immortals each with a cryptek and then the lord goes with the big squad of warriors hunkered down behind the defense line.

Another option is to bring the storm lord while droping the destroyer and adding a couple of solar pulses.  In the end I just might do that since I won’t have a single model unit to give first blood.

I could also drop the destroyer and split out the warriors and add a few more to give me more troop…. So many choices so little time…

Let me know what you think.  I will take suggestions up till Sat morning when I have to print out the list and party.

Had trouble sleeping last night so I decide to repair some more gargoyles.
