Well, with the year coming to a close, I usually try to review what I have done in the last year and compare it to what I plan to do at the beginning of the year. It has been a odd year with several lulls and little game-playing. I hope in the next year I can break out of this funk and actually get out and play. So, without further ado, let's dig in.
Tyranids
I started the year talking about the custom Hierophant and having several models from the Leviathan box to work on. I am happy to say I finished up the Heirophant. It is a massive model, and I was excited to use it in a game. Besides that, I also worked on some termagants, a hormagant and a biovore. On top of these GW models, I actually finished up several printed models including 2 tyrants, a mawloc, and a printed biovore. All in all, not bad.
Age of Sigmar
At the start of the year I was on the fense about my Overlords army. I still have not done anything eith them but I have started an Iron-Jaws army that I have worked on. The best model out of the bunch is the Maw-Crusha. It is just an awesome model. On top of that I have panted sever sets of goregruntas, several ragers, several characters and warband from underworlds.it is almost a full 2000 pt army. I also finished some Nighthaunt modelsthe scribnor and a few chainrasps.
Leagues of Votann
I continued to work on my Leagues army finishing a sagitaur, a squad of hearthguard and a Khal. While the are technically not Votann models I also painted up some Necromunda squats. I painted up some of the forgeworld models as well as a printed bike.
Necrons
I had a few Necrons to finish up this year including a printed overlord, a few printed flayed ones, a squad of Ophydian Destroyers, the limited edition (LE) Kamoteph model, a heavy destroyer and a psychomancer.
Orks
I spent some time working on some orks as well this year with 7 characters, some mounted some not, and a squad of squighog boys. I painted 2 nob of smasha squig, the LE grotmas gits and Ufthak models, a custom predator nob, 2 beastboses (one mounted one not) and a printed bigmek. Not as many models as usual for the orks but a good chunk of what I have done this year.
30K Mechanicum
Ever since GW had started to make The Horus Heresy in plastic, I have said that if they ever start making the Mechanicum in plastic I would start collecting that army. Well, this year brought out the Mechanicum army and I dove in. While I have only finished a single Castellax and six Thallax I have several other models almost finished. Any day now I will get a bug and finish them. If I don’t by the end of the year, than pretty quickly in the new year.
Lastly, I have painted up a Raging Heroes Skultaker model. I thought it was cool and I wanted to test out some red contrast paint, so this cutie was done.
There you have it. My 2024 year in review. With counting infantry as 1 point, calvary as 3, dreadnaughts and monsters as 5 points, tanks and larger monsters as 10 points and anything larger as 15 points, I did 213 points worth of painting. This is pretty low but with the new job and the lull in painting it is not bad. Hopefully next year I can top it. Have a happy new year and I will catch you a next time.
