Expanding the Skitarii to Adeptus Mechanicus

As my Skitarii Army is coming closer to being finished I have taken a look at what I have and what is left to collect. I have also been playing around with the idea of adding in some Cult Mechanicus to make it a true Adeptus Mechanicus army. In particular I am looking at the Elimination Maniple.

WIP Skitarii Vanguard / Rangers

I started working on the Skitarii than I got used.  I need to clean them up or repair them as well as I can before I can get them onto the playing field.

Picking up used models

While trying to stretch my hobby money I am always on the look out for some deals.  I tried to pick some models from barter town and Dakkadakka swap shop but since I don't have any previous transactions my PM are going on deaf ears.  So back to ebay I went.

Over the weekend I finished up my Tervigon.  This guy has been on my table since the kit came out in 2012 (if my memory serves me right) Here are a few more shots.

Last night I got to add the finishing touches on my newest exocrine.  I am still waiting for a base for this guy but he is done.

As promised, today I have some pictures of my Onager Dunecrawler.  This is the second one I have built.  I went a little crazy with the basecoat but overall I am happy with the results.

Hey Gang,  I am sorry that I have been quiet lately.  I was out of town and did not get a lot of time to do any hobby work.  I did finish up my second Dunecrawler and hope to have a post about it in the next couple of days.  Today's post will be about my third Exocrine.

Game Day XXX

This weekend was Game Day XXX and I had a blast.  I took my tyranids and my Skitarii in hopes to get to try out the Skitarii and more importantly try out the Knight Acheron.

Over on Bell of Lost Souls they have information on a few of the GW holiday bundles.  The ones that caught my eye were the Skitarii and Cult Mechanicus.

Meetup Weekend!

 Last weekend, my local Meetup group had its monthly meetup.  I was excited since I wasn't sure I was going to get to play.  Things changed around and my day was free so I packed up the bugs and we headed to the meetup.

So it looks like rumors of the new suits have broken.  They look cool and there is a surprise for the Tau as well.

NEW: Knight-Atrapos

Forgeworld has released its newest knight the Knight-Atrapos.  When I saw it was a Mechanicum knight I thought I ordered my knight to early.  Of course the knight I got is the one I like the best but this guy is cool.

What is Next for Tau?

While RL has been keeping me busy there has been a bunch of leaks for the new Tau forces coming out.  There are new troops, new suits, and a piece of terrain.

Showcase Termagants

After the big weekend of finishing my flying hive tyrant and sicarian intruders I did some quick work to get some termagants painted up.

Showcase: Sicarian Infiltrators

On top of finishing my Hive Tyrant I also completed 5 Sicarian Infiltrators. I love the look of these guys.  While not very beefy they look fast and agile.  While they are not my best work I think they are pretty cool.

Alternate model company: CNC Workshop Miniature Scenery

The guys over at CNC Workshop Miniature Scenery have a couple of new kits that I think look awesome. The new kits are Tornado and the ARF Track

Showcase: Flying tyrant

I have finished painting my tyrant.  I know he only has one set of devourers but I have had this guy ever since it came out and they are glued in.  One day I might cut those off and replace them with some magnets. Until then, this will do.

This weekend I found some time to work on my September hobby goal.  This month I would like to complete the flying hive tyrant and continue to work on my Skitarii force with the addition of some Sicarian Infiltrators.

No more Dakka dakka dakka.... for now.

I have come to the conclusion that it is time to put away the orks and bring out some of my other armies.  While I love my orks and will continue to play with them, my other armies are calling out to me.  Since I don't get to play very often I just wanted to get the most out of my time playing. 

So long green tide, hello great devourer!

Hopefully they will fair a bit better than the orks >_<

New Shrikes!

While digging through the bits bin at the Nova Open I came across some converted tyranid warriors.  There were 4 for half the price of 3 new warriors and they came with the nurgle wings. I think these will be great shrikes.

Nova Open Thoughts

Last weekend I went to the Nova Open.  I thought it would be like Adepticon but it felt more like DieCon.  While browsing around I saw many empty tables.  This could have been because I was not there during the peak times but it seemed a little sad.

Showcase: Tohaa Sakiel

In a couple of days I will be taking my team to Nova Open to play in the Hunger Games.  I wanted to get some paint on them so I just didn't have some bare models.  I have come to the conclusion that I just can't do a good job on these models. Here is my Sakiel.

This weekend my meetup group got together for another fun day of 40k! I was super excited because I missed the last 2 meetups and was itching to play some 40k.

Showcase: Skitarii Vanguard

So Yesterday I showed off my finished Skitarii Rangers. I finished out that box making 6 more Vanguards. I made out a spreadsheet so I know for each box what I need to make to get me to the 3 Vanguard units and 2 Ranger units. Onto the models

I finally found the time to finish up my Skitarii Rangers. During this round I made the Sniper, an Alpha, an omniscope, and a regular troop.

WIP: back to the Skitarii

After a brief bit with infinity I thought I needed to get back to the Skitarii.  Last week I got my second box of Rangers/Vanguard.  I assembled them and this weekend I made some good progress on getting them painted.

Showcase: Tohaa Gao-Tarsos

This weekend I finished up painting and basing my Tohaa Gao-Tarsos for infinity.  This was my first infinity model so it set the stage for my paint scheme for the Tohaa. I am still fighting with my lighting set up so I am Sorry for the darkish pics.

My first model for infinity is the Tohaa Gao-Tarsos with HMG.  I thought this guy was one of the coolest models in the Tohaa range.  While I haven't played enough to know how useful he is in the game, I do know he will be in my army for the first few games.

My 400th Post!!

Back when I started this blog I never really thought it would be something that I updated regularity.  I thought that I would update ever couple of weeks.  Post some pictures of my badly painted models, rant about the newest broken army, and post stories about how excited I was about my armies getting updated.  Well here we are 400 posts later.  So, in honor of my 400th post I thought I would take out all my armies and snap some pictures.  Be warned, lots of images incoming!

A new direction...

This blog has been mainly a 40k blog with a smattering of other games. When we moved to DC I had to find a new group of players to play with.  And I did I found a great group of guys that meet once a month to throw down some 40k and have a have a good time.  This leaves a big gap every month that I don't get to play any games and if I miss a gameday, like I did this month, it leaves an even bigger gap.  So I thought I should find some other way to get my gaming fix.

Showcase: Last of the alternate Meganobz

This weekend I finished up the last of my alternate Meganobz.  I went with the blue/gold combo of my Flashgits.  I am happy with how he turned out.  I think if I decide to get some more these might be the way I go.  Though those Kromlech ones are pretty cool.

I finished highlighting my two painted up meganobz.  All that is left is to base them.  I have one more to paint and then the last of my June Purchases will be painted and I can go back to my Skitarii army.

Forgeworld: Tau Titan?

This weekend was Forgeworld Open Day.   There were a lot of cool models like the Iron Warrior Primarch, a couple of Chaos Titans, and the Mastodon Troop Transport.  The one thing that caught this Xeno lover's eye was the new Tau KX 139 Ta'unar Supremacy Armor.

WIP: Started Painting Meganobs

Over the weekend I wanted to get my new meganobz painted up. I thought a 3 day weekend would be enough to finish 3 models.  Little did I know how lazy I would be.  I did get some paint on them.  I got 2 of them with their basic colors and a good wash on them. 

WIP third Mantic Alternate Meganob

The last of the Mantic Meganob looks a lot different than the previous 2.  I am not a fan of this look and It really does not match the other 2.  I can't just let it not get used so I tried to make it work.

WIP: Alternate Meganobz

I decided I wanted some more meganobz but I am not eager to pay the $70 for 3 small models so I started to look for alternatives.  That is when I found the Deadzone Marauders Support pack.

The end of forgeword in regular 40k?

Forgeworld models can bring a lot to a game of 40k.  From fluffy fun like grot tanks to the more powerful units like the sicaran battle tank, most of these rules are found in forge world own books.  While some might have their very own dataslate most just take a slot in the normal force org of a different codex.

WIP: Malanthrope

I am taking a break from my orks and Skitarii to help out my poor old nids.  I found a malanthrope for a great piece so I decided to for go my monthly Skitarii purchase and scoop him up.

WIP: Kustom Grot Mega Tank

After having some success with my grot tanks it was suggested that I get the Mega Tank.  While I don't have the cash for a real one I thought I might be able to make one.
