Break in the break... new necrons spotted.

I know I said I was taking a break from posting but I just saw the new necrons and thought I would throw up a post with my thoughts. I found a picture on the net.  It is a low res pic but you can see what matters.

Taking short break..

With the holidays this month and other life decisions (we are moving) I will not have a lot of time (actually none) to work or play with my miniatures.   When I get settled in the new place my activities will pick back up.

So unless something big happens I will catch you all next year.  Keep up the gaming.

Shield of Baal thoughts.

Showcase: Commander Shadowsun update.

With whatever flu or cold that was kicking my butt last week I didn't have a lot of time to work on the hobby.  I did get to update my Commander Shadowsun to match my current scheme of blue helmets for HQ choices. I also added some highlights to her armor.  I hope you like her.

Alternate Sisters of Battle?

My wife has kidded me about getting her a Sister of Battle army to play.  I always say if they ever make a plastic kit for them I would do it.

Showcase: Fire Warriors

I continued on my quest to finish up my Tau force by working on some fire warriors. 

WIP: Next wave of fire warriors, pain boy, mad doc

This weekend I finally decided to build the ork painboy and mad doc that I bought when the new codex came out.It was never really urgent to finish them since I was playing other armies but for some reason I just had a bug.  Now if only I could prime them.

Showcase Cadre Fireblade

I have a few moments to work on my cadre fireblade this weekend.  I like the look of this HQ choice and he has been waiting to be painted for several months now.

Like with darkstrider I had to change up his head and give him a helmet.  I painted it blue to match my color scheme with all the infantry.  Too bad I didn't do this with my crisis suits.  I am tempted to go back and fix Shadowsun as well. 

I just can bring myself to paint over the briliant paint job of Brandon Anderson's crisis suit commander.

Pathfinders completed...

...just in time to cancel Adepticon! While I am happy that the pathfinders are complete I have decided that I will not be going to Adepticon. Things have come up and so I won't be able to make it to the great con. I might be able to hit up another con we shall see.

Thoughts on the new Venomthrope and Zoanthrope.

With the release of the new venomthrope / zoanthrope kit I thought I would take a few seconds to give my impressions of the new kit.

Doom!!!!!!!

So with all the new bugs rumors flying around there is a new one that has surfaced.  reports are that there is a new kit coming out the week after the spore pod that makes venomthropes or zoanthropes or a new neurothope.  These rumors come from Faeit 212 and also the Bell of Lost Souls Lounge.

Last night I had some time to work on my Tau Pathfinders. I finished up 5 of them. Warning loads of pics incoming.

Plans for the firestorm Redoubt

So last post I talked about how I wanted to make a firestorm redoubt for my Tau. While I could get the actual set and use it I think that it would look better if it was more of a Tau feel. First of all I have to have an idea to start with.

Showcase: Darkstrider

My friend Stewie gave me a pack of pathfinders and Darkstrider for my birthday. I quickly assembled the models and primed them this weekend.  Last night I started painting them and focused on finishing Darkstrider. Here are shots of the fruit of my labor.

Rumors: New Bugs on the horizon

There has been rumors about a couple of new Tyranid monsters coming out soon.  I found the breaking news on Faiet 212 and a picture on Forge the Narrative's Facebook page.  In case you missed them here they are.

What to do about objective markers?

After thinking about what I want to do for my objective markers I thought I would look out on the internet and see what is out there.

I didn't have a lot of time this week to work on hobby stuff but I did have time to finish up some gun drones.

Showcase: More Fire Warriors

Real life had me pretty busy last week so I didn’t get much work done with my hobby.  I did get 5 fire warriors done bringing me to a total of 14 done and 16 to go.  I also decided that the right shoulder will be my squad marker and that a grey helmet will be my Shas’ui.

Showcase: Tau Fire Warriors and Stealth suits

Over the weekend I got all of my stealth suits finished and started to work on my Fire Warriors.  I like how they have turned out.  After painting those Stealth suits almost all grey is it nice to get back to painting color with the fire warriors.

Weekend Hobby: Home made light box

I have been complaining about not having a light box to even out the light when taking pictures of my miniatures. So with the help of my wife and dog I set out to make myself one. First I watched this video.

I looked in my mailbox today and Forge world has left me a present.  Their newest riptide has me drooling.

WIP Tau Piranha

Last night I had a little time to work on my Piranha.

With all the models I have to do before Adepticon, I need to get started on my Tau army. I decided to work on the one vehicle that I have in my army, the piranha.

I know bad pun but after I said it to my wife I knew I had to put it here.  Over the weekend I finished painting my Dakkajet's base.  I gues I abandoned my gravel flock back at the old house so until I get some more The dakkajet is complete.

I was looking at some of my favorite third party modellers and noticed that they are now making ork boys.  While I always love me some orks and you can never have enough boys, I think I am going to pass on all these new boys.

Showcase: Riptide

 

I finished up my second Riptide.  Tomax and Xamot are ready to take the field. For the second Riptide I decided to just glue the gun on.  I doubt I will ever want to field 2 burst cannons. I also switched out the colors on the shields.  This way I can say grey shield or orange shield and my opponent will know which I am talking about.

Someone asked how I did my power sword on my scion so I took some pictures while I did up another one.

Heading into the weekend....

...I got started on painting up my riptide.  I also got his hard points magnetized and hidden.  Here is a quick peak at what I am working on.

First coat of orange is complete.  It will need another couple of coats to be complete.  I might need to finish with the new base color.  I thought I was using the old foundation paint on the first one but the colors look off.

Have a good weekend.  Since I got a request I plan on putting up a tutorial on my power sword this weekend.

WIP: Dakkajet Conversion.

I know that Dakkajets conversions are so 5th edition but I never got around to doing the conversion that I wanted and I never thought I had the skills to pull it off.  Well times change and I have done some scratch building now so I decided it was time for the Ork-10 Dakkajet.

Last night I finished up painting the Scions I just built.  It is weird that I had not finished the others before taking on these guys but they were sitting there on my station all primed and ready to go so, I finished them.

With the league starting up this week I thought I should work on my Scions since I was going to use them for my kill team.  After building all that I have, I noticed that I am missing a few things.

Last week I received a package in the mail that had my second riptide.  I was worried that it was a bit shady seeing I got it for half price.  My worries came true.

Work Complete: Harpy

I completed my Harpy for this weekends game.  I am happy how it turned out.  If I had a steadier hand or more patience I could do better highlights but my hands are what they are and I do the best I can.

Wednesday night I spent the evening working on my prime. I am happy to say he is finished.   take a look.

I continue to prepare for the tournament at the end of the month I hope to have my army fully painted.  While my schedule is tight I only have the Harpy to finish, the prime to finish, some spore mines to paint and my objective markers to finish.  It is a tall order.
